Welcome!
This website is a showcase of work that I have completed, and somewhere where you may contact me to commission work.
Info
The pottery work I am doing is wheel thrown, using a dark firing, textured, iron rich clay (Feeny’s Raku T.).
My focus is on the contrasting relationship between the dark form and a surface. Cups and bottles in their endless variations are first created, a beading glaze is then applied over these forms which creates a crackle effect.
The outside of the pots are first painted with gosu (a dark stain) as a base coat and allowed to dry. Then a beading glaze is randomly placed on top of the gosu. Cracks start to appear almost immediately. I find this process exciting, because the results are unpredictable.
This method is rich store of ideas; fortunately, I have learned that mistakes are part of creative progress. So, I try to begin boldly, not worrying about mistakes, using less glaze and play with that, changing size and try to make different shapes of cups. I have experimented with many techniques and finally I feel I have found my way and I am going to continue it to higher and more advanced levels.
Peaceful family.
